COP28

Building on the successes of previous delegations, the Coalition for Conservation (C4C) proudly led a delegation of Australian legislators to COP28 in Dubai. Our delegates engaged in high-level discussions with international counterparts, exchanging insights and strategies to address global climate challenges. This year’s focus was on enhancing energy independence, bolstering national security, and promoting sustainable practices.

Our participation underscored the importance of bipartisan collaboration and data-driven solutions in tackling climate change. By facilitating the exchange of information and fostering international partnerships, we aimed to drive forward innovative policies that balance economic growth with environmental stewardship. The delegation also emphasized the role of advanced technologies and market-based solutions in achieving climate goals, reinforcing our commitment to pragmatic and impactful action.

Through these efforts, C4C continues to position itself as a leader in global climate advocacy, dedicated to creating a sustainable future through informed policy and collaborative international engagement.

COP27

Building upon the success of C4C’s delegation at COP26 in Glasgow and COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, last year witnessed our leadership in guiding a delegation of legislators to COP28 in Dubai. Our delegates seized the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with international legislators and experts, exploring their priorities, identifying collaboration opportunities, and fostering connections with counterparts from around the world. They facilitated the exchange of data and information focused on achieving energy independence, enhancing national security, and mitigating emissions, thereby contributing to sustainable global practices. Additionally, they actively participated in the global climate movement, sharing ideas and strategies to collaborate on critical areas such as aid, trade, and security. This collaboration aimed to reinforce our commitment to international leadership in addressing the pressing issue of climate change.

COP26

C4C led a delegation of Australian MPs to attend COP26 in Glasgow. In conjunction with COP26, we partnered with the UK Conservative Environment Network and the American Conservation Foundation to host the Global Conservative Climate Summit. This summit gathered prominent politicians and thought leaders from around the globe to discuss and advocate for a conservative approach to climate change. Our MPs signed the world’s first Centre Right Climate Action Declaration, coinciding with the anniversary of Margaret Thatcher’s landmark 1989 UN global environment speech. This declaration has been signed by 300 legislators from 46 countries.

The safeguarding of precious natural resources has always been a key feature of conservative governments. We believe that the environment should be front and centre of policy discussions. Transitioning to cleaner energy and improving sustainable practices is not only good policy but makes economic sense and is essential for our people’s future. We coordinate environmental action by organizing events and discussions covering waste and water management, renewables and clean technologies, green transport, decarbonization of heavy industry, sustainable agriculture, and biodiversity.
